ReMade Label

Transition to the new logo and ReMade technical updates

The ReMade Foundation presents its new visual identity, which supports the evolution of the certification scheme and introduces clearer, more functional graphic tools, labels, and digital resources for companies. Please refer to the Technical Standards for Trademarks governing the use of the updated logos and labels; further details are available in the dedicated article.

An effective tool for communicating certification

The ReMade label is an important tool available to companies to communicate the circularity of their certified products, highlighting the recycled material content of the products and the environmental impacts avoided through the use of recycled, recovered, or by-product materials, with savings in virgin raw materials.

The label is issued by the ReMade Foundation, at the
request of the certified company
, following the
successful outcome of the certification process.

It is available in different formats: Extended, Compact,
and Essential.

Depending on its needs and communication objectives,
the company may choose the extended label—complete
with all data and key environmental information—or the
reduced versions (Compact and Essential), which display
only essential information.

The labels may be used on the company website, in product
technical datasheets, in reports or environmental communications,
and may also be printed or affixed directly to the certified product.

The requirements for proper use of the labels are set out in the
ReMade Trademarks Technical Standards.

EXTENDED LABEL

Material breakdown

When the certified product is made of multiple materials, the Extended label specifies the recycled content of each individual component, ensuring accurate communication to the market. This information is essential when regulations set minimum recycled content thresholds that apply only to one (or more) of the materials making up the product, rather than to the product as a whole, as is the case, for example, with thermal insulation products, which are often combined with other materials.

The environmental values shown on the extended label

The ReMade extended label communicates the environmental benefits associated with the use of recycled materials and/or by-products as a substitute for virgin raw materials, highlighting the reduction in CO₂ emissions and the energy savings linked to the materials used.

These values are calculated by the ReMade Foundation’s Technical Area with the support of a specialized consultancy. For virgin raw materials, the system boundaries include the extraction and processing of the materials required to produce the raw material; for recycled raw materials, the boundaries include all processes involved in the treatment and regeneration of scrap (whether classified as waste or as by-products) up to the point at which they replace virgin raw materials

Reference standards
The reference standards used are UNI EN ISO 14040:2021, UNI EN ISO 14044:2021, the norm EN 15804:2012+A2:2019 and thePEFCR (Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules) Guidance v.6.3 2018
Environmental impact indicators
The environmental impact indicators selected for the analysis are:
  • Carbon Footprint (expressed in kg CO₂eq), representing the avoided greenhouse gas emissions;
  • Cumulative Energy Demand – CED, energy consumption, (expressed in kWh), measuring the savings in primary energy associated with the substitution of virgin raw materials.
The reference unit is 1 kg of material.
Methodology for calculating avoided impacts
The calculations are performed using the SimaPro software; all secondary data used in the model are sourced from the main LCA databases available within the software, such as Ecoinvent, the Industry Data LCA Library, and cm.chemicals (Carbon Minds).

How to request the labels

1. Receipt of the certificate

Once the Conformity Assessment Body issues the certificate, it sends it to the company and simultaneously to the ReMade Foundation. At that point, the company may request the issuance of labels for its certified products.

2. Submission of the request

Send an email to info@remade.it to request the labels, specifying the type (extended, compact or essential), the color (black and white or color), and the file format (PDF, JPG, or vector).

3. Attach the certificate

Include a copy of the certificate to allow the Foundation to carry out a double check against the certificate in its possession.

4. Issuance timelines

The label is issued within 15 working days from the company’s request and from the Foundation’s receipt of the certificate. Longer timelines may be required for issuing the label—of which the company will be informed—due to complex products or materials not recorded in the databases available to the ReMade Foundation.
